ABOUT

During most of his artistic career, Israeli artist Eyal Finkelstein has worked with stone and is perceived as an expert in designing and executing works in this medium. In the recent years, he sought new medium that would allow him to express new ideas. As a result, he started exploring other materials such as concrete, wood and plaster to create contemporary three-dimensional works. Today Eyal Finkelstein uses casting technique to sculpt with polymers materials, enabling to create sculptures with unique opacity and bold color. The subjects of his sculptures are chosen out of a will to craft “an object that will invoke feelings of closeness and belonging”. Therefore Finkelstein tends to pick subjects from the animal world, which is especially close to his heart. The unique combination of color, texture and specific original details make each of his creations one-of-a-kind. In his latest series, Finkelstein has developed colorful sculptures of life-size bulldogs. Though their form is straightforward, each one is full of expression.
