Born in the Philippines in 1986, Michael Vincent Manalo is a photographer and Digital Mixed-Media artist. His work evokes imagined memories of nostalgic and surrealistic dream-like environments that reveal the psychological depths that underlie the surface of reality.
His favorite ways of expression include site-specific installations, musical performances and photography.
He draws most of his inspiration from personal perception: “It may start from hauntingly vivid dreams, to nostalgic memories, to wild emotions, to painful moments, to melancholic days, to the untapped and unknown windows inside my soul, to the stillness and quietness of a place to mere words from thy lips. A lot of images come to my mind every day from a lot of sources, I just have to catch them all and create them as I saw them.”
Manalo has exhibited in several countries - Australia, England, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Philippines, Poland, Serbia, South Korea, Taiwan, UK and USA.
His works have been published in several magazines such as the Advanced Photoshop in the UK and Fotoblur Magazines. He has also been the laureate of several photography awards, including 1st prize in the Digital Art Category at the Art Museum of Chianciano Terme, Italy and Best Photography Illustration from The Redmond Digital Arts Festival in Washington, USA.
