Born in Slovakia in 1988, Maria Svarbova finished university degrees in the fields of conservation, restoration and archeology before deciding to fully dedicate her career to photography.
Published under the pseudonym Aria Baro, her earlier work suggests a dreamy reality with touches of Surrealism and Art Nouveau. Her most recent work reflects a distinctive approach to aesthetic minimalism and purity. This, through a satirical representation of modern society, in which we are compelled by inexpressive and dehumanized characters to reflect upon our own experience.
Maria Svarbova has collaborated with a number of prestigious international fashion and photography magazines such as – Vogue, DODHO and FotoVideo. She has also been the laureate of several photography awards, including the gold medal for excellence at the Trierenberg Super Circuit photography fair in Austria.
