ABOUT

Born in 1982, Cristina Burns is a photographer and a mixed media artist. She uses photography as a way to capture her surrealistic compositions, meticulously arranged in a myriad of symmetrical geometries.

Her work is characterized by juxtaposition, where opposing elements such as candies, toys, and flowers are fused to anatomical parts and insects, often blurring the extremely thin lines between fantasy and reality, purity and sin, life and death. By creating a childlike and macabre image at the same time, she is revealing to the viewer a sense of sweet decadence.

Cristina Burns is always experimenting new techniques and technologies while looking through the lens, her gateway to Wonderland.

Her work “Stratificazioni Antropologiche”has been awarded the “Raffaele Pezzuti per l’Arte” award and  is now part of the permanent art collection of Naples Metro, in permanent exhibition at Vanvitelli Station, together with the works of influential artists such as Anish Kapoor, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Sol Lewitt, Karim Rashid.

Her art has been exhibited across the United States of America, Europe, and Japan. She currently lives and works in Naples, Italy.
