Baptiste Leonne
Baptiste Leonne is a French multi-disciplinary artist currently based in Normandy. His eclectic body of work spans photography and painting, often merging the two to create layered, poetic visual experiences. Known for his signature mirror-based process, Leonne transforms reflections into powerful metaphors for femininity, identity, and self-perception.
His celebrated Diva series is a monumental project in which two mirrors are placed face to face—one in front of the camera, the other behind it. The result is an infinite, dreamlike image that captures the essence of the feminine spirit. Leonne begins with a painting on a mirror, initiating a creative loop between mirror, painting, and lens. This cyclical process produces artworks that evoke beauty, nostalgia, and introspection, inviting viewers to confront both their self-image and how they are seen by others.
Leonne’s photographs radiate a poetic intensity, capturing the timeless elegance of women through dramatic plays of light and shadow. His visual language is steeped in emotion, often referencing classical beauty while exploring contemporary issues of representation and soulfulness.
In contrast, his more recent paintings adopt a conceptual and critical lens, tackling themes such as freedom of expression, human connection, and the alienation of consumer society. These works call for a renewed social consciousness rooted in empathy, acceptance, and solidarity.
Baptiste Leonne’s art has been exhibited in solo and group shows across France and Israel and is held in private collections in Europe, Israel, and the United States.
